PointClickCare Is the SNF Market Leader — And Has Its Own Integration Complexity
PointClickCare is the dominant EMR in the skilled nursing and long-term post-acute care market, powering a majority of US SNFs. If you are building any technology product for the SNF market — quality analytics, staffing software, clinical AI, family engagement tools — you need a PointClickCare integration. The challenge is that PCC's API documentation, while improving, does not capture the full complexity of their data model. PCC's patient identification uses a combination of facility-specific patient IDs and enterprise-level identifiers that must be handled correctly to avoid patient matching errors. PCC's HL7 v2 dialect has non-standard extensions used for ADT messaging. PCC's rate limits and API pagination behaviours differ from their documentation in ways that only surface under production load. I built the PCC integration layer at Octdaily that connects 20,000+ SNFs — processing millions of ADT events, MDS data points, and quality metrics. Every PCC quirk that exists, I have encountered and resolved.
